Copy AR Notes

Overview:

Your company maintains Customer specific notes through the AR Maintenance screen. You would like to make these notes available for editing and copying during Order Entry.

Proposed Solution:

A Flexibility program will be written to allow the user to view, edit and copy the AR Notes to the OE Header Comment fields. Detail: The AR Customer Notes are held in (up to) five (5) Notes fields in the AR Customer Master file. Each Note field allows up to 30 characters per field. The OE Header Comments are limited to three (3) fields, each 35 characters. Consequently, there cannot be a one-for-one copy of the notes. During Order Entry, when the user tabs onto the 'Bill To Name' field, the Flexibility program will search the Customer Master file to see if AR Notes exist. If Notes are found, the user will be presented with a screen. The AR Customer Notes are held in (up to) five (5) Notes fields in the AR Customer Master file. The 'Note' fields will be populated with any existing Notes found in the AR Customer Master file. - If the Macola screen is in 'Add' mode (new order), the Comment fields will be filled with the contents of Note 1,2, and 3 respectively. - If the Macola screen is not in 'Add' mode, the Comment fields will be populated with the text from the Comment fields on the current Order Header. The user may edit the comments as necessary. A maximum of 35 characters will be allowed per comment field. User may select 'Copy Notes' to close the screen and copy these notes to the Order Header Comment fields. User may select Cancel to close this screen and not update the Order Header comments.
